HISTORY: Up until she turned five, Theo couldn't have been happier. Though she did get scolded often for things she did that were caused by her eyesight, she loved her parents all the same. But then, just before she turned five, her younger sister was born, and then everything started to go downhill. When her younger sister, Rebecca, came home from the hospital, Theo's mother told her, in no uncertain terms, that she could take care of herself.
Things were fine for a while, though Rebecca got nearly all of their mother's attention, Theo became introverted as a result. But then, when Rebecca turned three and began to notice and take into account things around her, it got worse. She started to notice that whenever she and her sister were alone, and she cried, their mother would come running and immediately blame Theo for whatever Rebecca said she had done--though Theo had, more often than not, done nothing.
This went on for seven years after that, until Theo finally snapped. All she did was smack Rebecca for a snarky comment the ten-year-old had made about Theo and her secret (at the time) girlfriend. Rebecca, however, made it seem like Theo had punched her when she ran crying to their mother. Well, one thing lead to another, and eventually Theo and her mother were shouting at each other. The fight was only broken up when Theo was ordered to get out by her father.
Hurt that the only person she had thought cared about her had said this, Theo did just as she was told--she left. She walked to a friend's house and called her grandparents. After explaining what had happened, she was told to stay at her friend's house. The next day her grandparents arrived to pick her up.
She lived peacefully with her grandparents for about a year, and then her parents called, demanding she return home. Theo refused, and a very messy, year-long lawsuit ensued. Her grandparents won custody rights, but it had taken its toll on them, as they were in their late seventies. Her grandmother died on her seventeenth birthday, two months after her grandfather had passed on. Theo then had no choice but to go back to her parents after that, and the next year was a hell she'll never be able to forget. On her eighteenth birthday she disappeared from her parents' home, and she hasn't seen them, nor have they seen her, since. The last thing her parents' know she did was change her last name.

RP EXAMPLE:
With a loud crack and a displacement of air, Aurora Sinistra, the Astronomy Professor appeared on Platform 9 3/4 via apperation. With a sigh of relief--as she had never liked apperating much--the brunette smoothed a nonexistent wrinkle out of her dress shirt--which was a royal-blue in color as well as being a mens dress shirt--before dusting imaginary lint off of her immaculate black mens dress pants.
Though Aurora had been raised by magical parents, she had been allowed to dress however she wished, and thus her current style had been a result of that. Along with the aforementioned means dress shirt and mens dress pants, Aurora wore a pair of shined, black mens dress shoes. She then ran a hand through her short brown hair, her mismatched emerald green--the right--and sapphire blue--the left--eyes taking in her surroundings, before she pulled her wand from her pocket and cast a levitating charm on her suitcases.
However, one would question, why was she not at Hogwarts, or why had she not apperated to Hogsmead? Well, the answer to the first question was simple: She had taken a holiday in Germany--her adoptive parents were both German, and so she had learned both German and English. The answer to the second question was simple as well: She wished to experience the train ride again, a thing she had not done for eleven years.
She then proceeded to make her way through the sea of students and parents. Aurora quickly spotted a goupe she knew well--what was it they called themselves? Ah yes, the Marauders, that was it. She then made her way over to them.
"I hope you four aren't planning to cause too much mayhem this year," Aurora said, easily falling into step beside the Black boy--Sirius was his name, if she remembered correctly.
