Holland was born to the wealthy Monegasque Jewelry Company owner, Leonard, and his German socialite wife, Elaine, on the 16th June. She already had an older brother, Milan, by four years as well. They live together in an estate in Monaco, and had a rather average family life. However, because her parents did not give her or brother enough time but only money and freedom, they were spoilt and became wild children, who partied every day and night.
Milan, Holly's brother became a drug addict, and later, her parents found out. This made them change their mind about Holly and sent her to Antoinette Academy instead, believing that it is a great school, hoping that Holly wouldn't turn out like her brother.

Titanic was not like a great big ship where anyone could just float around anywhere they wanted to. In fact, it was pretty much restricted where you can and cannot go and people from classes had to stay in their own area. Crossing border was barely legal. It was like three separated countries. Each had its own distinctive divide. Wealth was what this divide was called. A simple clear border. This rule worked against all the lower class people from getting to the privileges they had never paid for, and kept people in places where they belong. In other word, in places where it suited the cost of their ticket. This left Holly no choice other than to walk about in the second class area, as she was forbade from getting into the first class area. The place where she could have easily paid for, but chose not to, like everybody else in her small circle of friends. She was allowed into the third class area though, but who would. She had taken a step down from her ranking already by putting herself in second class, therefore it was basically impossible that she would go down a little bit further to the slum area of Titanic. That great ship.
Honestly, she didn't like the facilities in second class at all, but she had to prove that she could be independent and was able to manage life's hardship. Something her parents have chosen to avoid from her life ever since she was born. Moreover, she could not tell her friends either, as she felt like she was already a weakling in their party. It was such a drastic change in the way of life she used to have. From having tens of servants doing every possible things they could do for her, she was left on Titanic with nobody. Nobody to dress her. Nobody to do her hair. No one. Her gigantic bedroom the size of the grand hall at the castle-size manor located in the English countryside, became a claustrophobic rat hole, smaller than the size of her old bathroom. The only positive change that made up for everything was the fact that she had gained freedom from all the complications in her life. No more parents. No more restrictions. With only this, Holly was beyond content. It was a massive transition, but it could only be for the better.
With the well controlled barrier between classes, Holly had to choose whether she wanted to stay in her cabin, or come out of the burrow and take in some fresh salty air. And of course, being so foreign to the never-ending ocean and its unimaginable size, she decided to take herself into exploring the unfamiliar world. Not before long, the continually strong breeze and its cold temperature caught Holly's body off guard with her insufficient layers of clothing, and she started to become cold and shivered. Holly had no idea where the rest of her friends were. Uncomfortably, she brought herself into the restaurant, the nearest indoor facility from where she was on the deck previously. Not wanting to sit alone, she prayed that she would meet someone she knew. All she needed now was a mug of warm liquid to keep her body temperature pleasant, and a great friend to talk to would be a bonus.
Standing at the entrance, waiting to be seated, Holly did not know that this was a walk-in second class restaurant, in which required no manners of a first class passenger what so ever, she saw a familiar face at the far back of the restaurant, sitting alone. A face that made her shivered more that she already was. It was Christian, her friend, but she had always felt something more than the word every time he was around. Being around people wasn't her best trait, but around him and her other close friends which she did not have much of, made her feel homely and free. Smiling sweetly at him from the distance, hoping that he would notice, she walked slowly with an elegant manner up to the table by the empty chair. "Hi, Christian," She began greeting him, before continuing, "Am I interrupting you and your peaceful moment? If not, would you care for a company?" She asked him jokingly with friendliness. Holly could not let her awkwardness from the 'more than friends' feeling inside show. Friendship was better than romance, just because the happiness from it would last longer, in her opinion, and she would not dare to do anything to damage that friendship, even for a little bit.
